No Excuse
No Excuse
Dorset Police launched the “No Excuse” road safety campaign in January 2010 to reduce the numbers of those killed or seriously injured on Dorset’s roads.
The team is made up of a dedicated Sergeant and includes constables, staff and volunteers that support enforcement activity. These personnel have further training in roads policing, enforcement and road safety. The campaign works closely with communities and community speed watch teams, listening to community intelligence and using this to prioritise engagement and enforcement activity. The campaign focuses on tackling the “fatal five”: drink and drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, driver distractions and careless driving. These offences are deemed as the leading cause of collisions which result in road users being killed or seriously injured. The team utilise both marked and unmarked vehicles, including motorcycles, and can be deployed anywhere in the County.
