Military Presentations - Dorset Police

This interactive workshop is aimed specifically at members of the Armed Forces.

The aim of the workshop is to develop an appropriate level of awareness and knowledge that will enable participants to become responsible road users however they use the road. There is an emphasis on safety when returning to ‘civi street’ or on leave  from a Tour of Duty.

Participants will have an opportunity to explore risks and be given some coping strategies that will enable them to decide how best to manage those risks. The use of alcohol and drugs and their effects on life and career prospects will also be highlighted.

Survive the Drive - Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service

Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Defence’s Movement and Transport Safety Regulator, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, SAFE South West, Devon County Council and the University of Plymouth, this road safety programme is aimed specifically at defence personnel.

Statistics show that vehicle-related collisions are the third largest cause of non-operational fatalities and injuries across the Ministry of Defence. The aim of this intervention is to provide participants with a greater understanding of the risks they face on our roads and strategies to decrease their chance of being in a collision. The powerful personal testimonies from a police officer, a paramedic, a firefighter, a victim of a road traffic collision, and those who have lost family members, demonstrate the impact that a road traffic collision can have on individuals, their families and the wider community.

The strapline is: ‘tomorrow is decided today’, as the presentation focuses on how our decisions can have both positive and negative outcomes.
